Poquoson Barracudas Coaches
Allen Koderitz, Head Coach
"Coach K" is our Head Summer Coach this season! Allen brings over seven seasons of experience as the head coach at Kiln Creek and has also led programs at both Warwick High School and, more recently, Poquoson High School.
As a seasoned swim coach, Allen is passionate about teaching the fundamentals of swimming and inspiring young athletes to embrace the sport as a lifelong pursuit.
We’re thrilled to have him leading the Barracudas this summer!
Addison Detwiler, Assistant
Addison is a rising sophomore at Bridgewater College, where she swims on their NCAA Division 3 swim team. She was a swimmer during her high school career at Hampton Roads Academy and served as team captain, and was on the All-State Team all 4 years. Addison has also swam with the Victory YMCA Swim Team and also has served as an instructor and swim coach with their program as well. We are excited to have Addison Join the staff this summer. Please welcome her and get to know her!
Jacob Chow, Assistant
Jacob is a proud graduate of Poquoson High School, Class of 2022, where he competed on the Islander swim team.
Jacob is excited to be part of the Coaching Staff this year and enjoys the butterfly and the breaststroke. In addition to coaching, Jacob will also be returning to the Municipal Pool Staff this summer, continuing his role as a swim instructor.
Tony DeVries, Assistant
Tony is a Class of 2026 graduating senior from Poquoson High School. Tony will be attending the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown to swim this fall. Tony has been a Barracuda since age 6 and served as a coach last season as well. Recently he holds the 2026 State Championship Title in Class 2 for 100 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, and was part of the 400 Freesyle Relay Team Champs. Tony was named AAA Seniors Champs Sectionals Swimmer of the Year for 2025-2026 and also swims with the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins year round team here on the Virginia Peninsula.
